4. Rousey’s Mom Hates Him
Ronda Rousey’s mother hates Edmond Tarverdyan. She’s not alone in those feelings, but considering she birthed Edmond’s only real claim to fame, her opinion is more important than most’s.
AnnMaria De Mars, Ronda’s mother, went off on Edmond in October of last year, just one month before UFC 193.
“I think Edmond is a terrible coach, and I will say it publicly.” De Mars accurately said publicly. Ronda’s mother is a former world judo champion (1984), so her opinion is not that of an amateur’s.
She continued on to say “I think he’s a terrible coach. I think he hit the lottery when Ronda walked in there.”
Rousey had already been a bronze medalist in the Olympics before joining up with the Glendale Fighting Club. According to reports Rousey was largely ignored by Edmond for sometime when she first started training there as well. Edmond was on Joe Rogan’s podcast and admitted he wasn’t really interested in training her at first. He continued on to say it wasn’t until she had been training there for several months that he began giving her some pointers.
