2. The Muhammad Ali Act

In December, Randy Couture was part of a small contingent of fighters and MMA advocates who appeared before Congress. What they were lobbying for is the extension of the Muhammad Ali Boxing Reform Act to cover MMA as well.

This would be death for WME-IMG. It would force them to sell immediately.

Part of the Ali Act calls for the handing out of all title shots to be handled by a 3rd party, not the promotion itself. This part of the Act seeks to prevent promotions from handing out title shots based on who is popular, not who is the best fighter. It would be the death nail for WME-IMGs business plan as it concerns the UFC.

Currently the Act is kicking around Congress limbo.
