2. Prevented a GSP Return
“Those are the bad guys here. Under the prior management before William Morris-IMG we don’t think any of this stuff would’ve happened. There would’ve been a deal reached, maybe even for UFC 206 in Toronto.” – GSP’s lawyer Eric Hochstadt
George St. Pierre’s management team blames the new UFC owners for failed negotiations to bring the popular French Canadian back to the company. The UFC’s second final PPV of 2016 was from Toronto, ON Canada, the same place that GSP once sent an indoor attendance record in at UFC 129.
The two sides have failed to negotiate a deal that compensates GSP for the lost revenue he would incur from having to ditch his sponsorship deals as part of the Reebok deal. GSP feels the company owes him more for reducing his ability to earn from outside sponsorships, but evidently the new owners are not agreeable to reaching a deal.
