5. UFC 177 (August 30th 2014)

Joe Rogan referred to UFC 177 as “the haunted UFC card”, because of all the injuries and last-minute changes that needed to be made.

At one time this card was supposed to be headlined by Jon Jones defending the light heavyweight championship against Gustafsson, but that fight ended up being moved to UFC 178.  The main event was then supposed to be TJ Dillashaw defending the BW title in a rematch against former champion Renan Barao, but Barao’s weight cut was intense enough that he had to be hospitalized and pull out of the fight. Newcomer Joe Soto received a championship fight in his UFC debut as a result of the last minute cancellation.

Henry Cejudo had to pull out last minute from his fight with Scott Jorgensen, and both a middleweight and heavyweight fight both had to be pulled due to last minute injuries as well.

The entire card only consisted of 8 fights, the smallest show the UFC had put on in over 7 years.
