Dana White has had an interesting 2020 so far. The recent health crisis shut down the world of sport. But White managed to get the UFC back on track before any other major sports leagues in the world. However, he knows that there will be some financial damage this year.

One man he is interested in working with is Floyd Mayweather. The unbeaten veteran boxer is also a promoter. Between the two parties, they want to put on a massive event. But that may not be possible in 2020. Despite this, White wants to keep his options open.

Furthermore, he discussed the prospect of a potential rematch between the boxer and Conor McGregor. Check out his comments below. Who do you think would win this fight now?

Dialogue

Various media outlets released photos of White attending a basketball game with Mayweather earlier in the year. They knew that they would get the world talking by appearing in public together. Then both parties confirmed that they were in negotiations to create an event together.

White and Mayweather still have an interest in working together. This makes total sense because he is combat sports’ royalty. Furthermore, he is an effective promoter. Mayweather didn’t make all of his money from fighting, just most of it. Anyway, the UFC President told TMZ Sports:

“Floyd and I still have dialogue and go back-and-forth. We’re still interested on both sides,”

Rematch

Then White gave an update on the potential of a Mayweather v McGregor rematch. In short, he says that fans shouldn’t get their hopes up. After all, he totally outclassed the Irishman in their first fight. It’s another easy payday. But McGregor’s retirement means that this is out of the question. At least that’s what White says.

“I know (Mayweather) would rematch Conor McGregor, but I don’t know if you’ve heard about this but Conor McGregor’s retired,” White said. “When I’m doing things right now, running the business, I don’t even think about Conor. Conor is retired. Per my contract with fighters, I owe them three fights a year. If I do not deliver three fights a year, I have to pay them their money. Conor McGregor is retired.”

Lawyer

Of course, McGregor will probably fight again. He remains in the USADA testing pool so his retirement is about as real as White’s chances of sprouting hair on his head. Meanwhile, Mike Tyson spoke out about the potential of fighting McGregor. He was joking but his comments are funny. He told the Dan Patrick Show:

“I don’t think I wanna do that. Not because Conor might kick my a**, it’s just because Conor has the right to step on my feet. If anybody steps on my feet I’m tapping out. He doesn’t need to hit me.

If he steps on my feet when we get out the ring it’s gonna be a problem. Then we’ll have some police involved. We’ll have the lawyer involved. It’s gonna be ugly.”
