Floyd Mayweather Jr., arguably the most talented boxer of the modern era has now retired after an incredible 49-0 run in the sport. His defensive abilities have been mostly accredited in a positive light, but in the later stages of his career it led to great criticism.
‘Money’ was all about banking the huge PPV numbers in his twilight years, and the gameplan was to stay winning. As is the case with most fighters who have been at the top of their game for prolonged periods, Mayweather had lost the hunger to destroy his opponents.
Many called Mayweather out for ‘running’ in his last few bouts, but he was also displaying great ringmanship and general defense, as taught to him by his father Floyd Mayweather senior.
