
The links between MMA and domestic abuse continues as yet another fighter has found himself in trouble following an incident with his partner. An unwelcome facet of the sport, it has reared its head time and again.
Former UFC, Bellator and Strikeforce Heavyweight Lavar Johnson has been sentenced to five years following a brutal attack on his girlfriend. Johnson fought four times in the UFC before being cut after being found guilty of taking a banned substance. The Heavyweight went 2-2 under the UFC banner losing to Brendan Schaub in his last fight.
Johnson, a professional fighter since 2004 who has fought 28 times, lost five of his last six bouts being finished four times in the first round. His most recent fight was a submission loss to Cheick Kongo in 2014.
