2. Paul Daley vs Nick Diaz – Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Daley
The greatest round in the history of the Strikeforce promotion was round 1 of Paul Daley vs. Nick Diaz. Heading into the fight Diaz had already defended the promotion’s welterweight title against Evangelista Santos and KJ Noons.
The fight took place in San Diego, on April 9th 2011. Diaz immediately walked towards Daley with his hands down, taunting him. Daley caught Diaz with an uppercut as he was going for a takedown early in the round. Later in the round Diaz just started to swarm Daley with strikes and ended up pulling him into his guard.
With a little over a minute left in the round Daley knocked him down with a left hook and looked to finish. Diaz recovered however, and with just seconds to go Diaz rocked Daley and finished him with ground and pound.
