Layoffs

Recently on the MMA Hour, host Ariel Helwani mentioned he feels the quality of UFC promotional videos has reduced greatly since WME-IMG initiated a series of company-wide layoffs. Many feel that sentiment extends beyond the company’s promo videos.

Mike Goldberg’s contract was not renewed, essentially releasing the sport’s most experienced commentator (aside from Rogan) onto the market. Matt Hughes and Chuck Liddell lost their cushy no-show jobs and several international offices were closed as well. While in the short-term this will lead to increased profit for WME-IMG, it will also reduce the sport’s growth across the globe.
