The UFC featherweight division is a strange place right now. Following Conor McGregor’s stunning knockout of Jose Aldo at UFC 194, many believed the start of the Irishman’s reign of terror was here.
McGregor has not defended the title since winning it in December 2015. Frustration has began building among the featherweights and UFC fans, as the Irishman’s next two fights were at welterweight.
Rivalry With Diaz
The feud between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz has caused a lot of fuss. At first it was a thrown together fight at UFC 196, but then Diaz actually beat McGregor on just 11 days notice.
Clearly McGregor and the UFC couldn’t sit with that loss. An immediate rematch was granted at UFC 202. ‘The Notorious’ would win by majority decision, and so the stars aligned for a return to 145 pounds. Or not.
Seriously?
After the UFC 202 main event was done, president Dana White denied Nate Diaz an immediate rematch. Jose Aldo had won the interim belt at UFC 200, and so many believed the rematch was on.
Now a new report has surfaced that set the internet ablaze…
