Beware featherweights! Giga Chikadze is a scary striker to face and is probably one of the most elite kickboxers in the UFC right now. He just proved that his skills are legit by beating another fellow striking specialist, Edson Barboza.
Right off the bat, both were exchanging heavy and accurate shots that make people sit on the edge of their seats. It is one of those fights where fans knew one strike is all it takes so don’t blink. MMA striking at the highest level was showcased and Chikadze showed it is now his time.
After the fight, Chikadze called out former featherweight champion, Max Holloway for a potential fight. Prior to the fight, Chikadze was ranked #10, surely he will climb the rankings but how high will the UFC give him? Holloway is ranked #1 right now and maybe due for another title shot after that master class performance against Calvin Kattar.
Chikadze is still undefeated in his UFC run and has shown to have effective striking. Not only are his shots sharp, but his kicks also knock everybody out. Will it be effective against someone as durable as Holloway?
Respect was shown after the fight, Chikadze even said that Barboza was one of the fighters he looked up to. Barboza has been in the game for quite a while and though he was not a champion, his highlight reel is one of the best out of the UFC fighters.
