Two top 5 UFC welterweights go at it on Twitter, namely Gilbert Burns and Leon Edwards. Both fighters have yet to face each other, but for Edwards, he wants a piece of Jorge Masvidal who sucker-punched him.

For those who don’t remember the infamous incident, it was during Masvidal’s post-fight interview and then Edwards keep heckling him. Masvidal then walked towards him and surprised him with the so-called three-piece and a soda.

There is clearly bad blood between the two and the fight sells. According to Burns, Masvidal is still sleeping and won’t take the fight against Edwards, hence issued a challenge. It is either Edwards wait out after the winner of Usman and Covington 2. Edwards is also coming off a win against unranked Nate Diaz.

Edwards also responded with his own, saying that he has been calling out Burns for a long time but was avoided. Now that their situation has been reversed, it is now Burns calling out Edwards. That is simply the fight business, if one wants another crack at the title he must fight a top contender.

Both have their fair say in the argument, Edwards is coming off a long win streak so he may be the front liner for a title shot but his wins are not as highly ranked compared to Burns who is coming off a dominant win against Stephen Thompson. Should the UFC book for Edwards vs Burns as the next title contender spot? Does Leon Edwards deserve to wait and sit out for a title shot?
