Former UFC lightweight title contender Donald Cerrone rattled everyone in the social media community when he posted a bizarre clip. Cerrone was seen on Instagram showing fans that he had sustained horrific damage to his right eye.
The 33-year-old native of Broomfield, Colorado uploaded the video online of a gruesome eye injury. The post garnered nearly half a million views and 30,000 likes within just a few hours.
Is This Injury To Donald Cerrone’s Eye Even Real?
While the injury itself seems suspect (you would think something as grave as that would need serious medical attention), it made a lot people to wonder. Would Cerrone still be capable of fighting in his upcoming welterweight bout against Matt Brown at UFC 206 just a few weeks away?
Cerrone however assured his fans that he will be ready for fight night and would just need to rest up.
“What’s going on everybody? It’s Cowboy. Before the media puts out what happened, I just wanted to let you know I’m still fighting in Toronto on December 10,” he said.
“Yeah, I’m still fighting. Everything’s good. After hours on the table doctors were able to save my eye. No issues there. A couple of weeks to let it heal up. So, see you all in Toronto. Shit, can’t catch a break on this fight,” Cerrone added.

Is This The Real Life? Or Is It Just Fantasy? Say It Ain’t So, Donald
Although many fans expressed their concerns, others took it with a grain of salt as Cerrone is in fact filming a series set for release on Netflix. His quote unquote “eye injury” could in fact just be a hoax and that he is merely wearing prosthetics for his role.
Cerrone was supposed to be part of UFC 205, but his fight was cancelled after his opponent Kelvin Gastelum failed to make weight.
It did not take long for the UFC to book him for another fight and now Cerrone is slated to face Brown at UFC 206 in Toronto, Canada.
