Picture this for a moment, if Manny Pacquiao who is already 42 years old and is also a working senator in the Philippines somehow beats arguably the second best boxer in the world, does he become the greatest boxer of all time? Probably a difficult feat to achieve but doable, as Pacman defied the odds since his whole career.

Many thought that his fight with Thurman would be a one-sided beatdown since he was fighting a young undefeated champion, but what happened? Pacquiao knocked him down in the first round then eventually won via decision. It was a really impressive run considering he is now past his prime. It just shows how viscous he was during his prime.

In his prime years, he demolished bigger guys like Antonio Margarito, De La Hoya, Hatton, Cotto and a lot more great boxers. He was arguably the pound for pound best boxer during that time and a clash with Mayweather was the biggest fight to make. Unfortunately, the fight happened a little too late, as Pacquiao suffered a brutal knockout against Marquez.

The hype was still there but it was different if the fight happened around the time he fought Hatton or Mosley. It was the perfect time as they were clearly the best boxers in their division and basically cleaned out the division. Mayweather is considered by many as one of the best pure boxers of all time since he fights not by gifted power but his skill, fight IQ and footwork.

Despite not fighting for more than a year, Pacquiao has indicated that a fight with Crawford is very possible provided that both parties come to an agreement. Pacquiao clearly deserves a bigger payday since he clearly has the better resume and a bigger household name among the casual fans.

Manny Pacquiao could still test Crawford out, since he has better names beaten in the division. A win against Keith Thurman is clearly better than anyone Crawford has fought in the super welterweight division. So no one should count Pacquiao out, although in the eye test Crawford clearly looks much more skilled and fast and that is because he is now in his prime. There is a reason why he is top 2 pound for pound boxer currently.

Although hardcore boxing fans would want the Crawford vs Spence to happen but since both parties could not come to an agreement due to fight purse issues. A fight of Pacquiao vs Crawford is still a big fight to make. According to some reports, Spence is looking to fight Yordenis Ugas who got promoted to Pacquiao’s belt which is the WBA Super Welterweight Champion.

Manny Pacquiao has broken a lot of records in boxing, one of which is becoming an 8 division champion. This record itself might not be broken in a long time or maybe not ever, that is just how difficult the achievement did Pacquiao do. A win over Crawford would increase his GOAT status even more? Where do you rank Pacquiao if he beats Crawford?
