Strike the iron while the fire is hot. Israel Adesanya v Jon Jones is one of the hottest potential match-ups in the UFC today. The trash talk is building up and up and these two men really don’t like each other. Adesanya’s stock is at its highest after defending his title for the second style in brutally efficient fashion.

He wants to defend it a third time – hopefully against Jared Cannonier. But the UFC plans to make him fight Jon Jones now. Jones and Adesanya are effectively unbeaten if you discount the Matt Hammil result from years ago. If Adesanya loses his next fight or Jones suffers a decapitation at heavyweight, then the shine is gone.

The Last Stylebender expects this to be one of the greatest fights of all-time. He also believes that the trash talk will intensify. He spoke to MMA Junkie about this but believes that it should not get personal when it comes to family members. Check out his comments below.

War

Adesanya was infuriated when Jones brought up his family members. As far as the Nigerian-born, New Zealand-based fighter is concerned, that crosses the line. He doesn’t care about trash talk directed at him or his fight camp, but discussing family members is beyond the pale. He said:

“Don’t mention my father. I don’t give a s**t if your mom’s dead. I’m sure she was a beautiful woman, a beautiful soul, but I don’t give a f**k if she’s dead. Don’t mention my dad. Do not mention my family. This is business, this is work. Yeah, sure, mention my coach. Cool. But don’t mention anything personal. You think you can get down and dirty? Mother(expletive) I’m from the gutter. I can get grimy. You don’t understand Nigerians. Trust me, you don’t want this war.

Open Season

Meanwhile, The Last Stylebender expressed his contempt for Jones’ attempts to be ghetto. Furrthermore, he somewhat hypocritically threatened to go after the former light-heavyweight champion’s family. Because that makes sense.

“If you want to go down back-and-forth dirty, bro,” Adesanya added. “You don’t even know the gutter, from your little posh, suburban spot in New Mexico. You don’t know, bro. Trust me. He wants to get down and dirty and start mentioning family members? And people will say, ‘You should’ve mentioned his dad instead.’ It’s not up to you to decide what I do. You mentioned my family. It’s open season. You’re lucky I didn’t come for other members of your family.”

No Contract

Meanwhile, he says that there is no contract yet. Jones accused Adesanya of dodging him but the City Kickboxing product denies this. Stylebender says that the UFC hasn’t given him anything to sign yet.

“Where’s the contract?” Adesanya said. “I’ve never been offered this fight, so it’s like where’s this contract that everyone likes to bring up? Paulo said the same thing, ‘Sign the contract.’ What contract motherf**ker? I just whipped your ass, bad. Double-tap. Easy. Everyone is saying, ‘Sign the contract. Sign the contract.’ I don’t think these people know how contracts work. You have to get a contract before you sign. But yeah, cheddar makes it better. That’s a big fight.”
