Jon Jones is feeling threatened by The Last Stylebender… Check out the latest ‘Bones’ had to say on Israel Adesanya…

Israel Adesanya is the UFC’s golden boy right now. ‘The Last Stylebender’ finally silenced his critics by beating the number one 185lber on the planet in Robert Whittaker. It was a superb performance. He knocked out the Australian in the second round with a devastating counter-attack.

Adesanya’s rise has been incredible. No fighter has been as quick to win a UFC championship as the 30-year-old Auckland resident. Fighting out of City Kickboxing, his striking is next level. Many believe that he’ll be the next fighter to reach the superstar level of a Conor McGregor or Ronda Rousey.

Maybe that’s why Jon Jones is feeling so threatened by the new undisputed 185lb champion. We don’t mean in the cage – Jones’s size advantage should be too much for Adesanya – but in terms of promotability. Jones should be a tier-one draw like Rousey and McGregor were. But the fact is he’s damaged goods and that’s all of his own making. Check out how he targeted Adesanya online.

Watch Out

Jones still holds the record of the youngest UFC champion in the history of the promotion. However, not even his run at gold came as quickly as Adesanya’s. ‘The Last Stylebender’ is astonishingly only fighting for the UFC since February 2018. No fighter has risen as quickly as him, not even Conor McGregor. ‘Bones’ seems extremely conscious of Adesanya’s threat to his star power. He targeted the Nigerian-born, New Zealand resident on Twitter:

“Israel Adesanya Keep convincing yourself that one day you’ll be ready to face a boss like me. I’ll keep convincing myself that when that day comes, I will make you my absolute bitch. You said you saw me fight in person against Thiago and I didn’t look the same. I also got to see you fight KG, didn’t need to be in person. You were almost knocked out on more than one occasion.”

Obsessed

For his part, Adesanya doesn’t have much to say about Jones. He actually hasn’t called him out of late and is focused on enhancing his legacy as a champion. He wants to defend his title before considering a move up to the light-heavyweight division.

“I didn’t talk about him, he’s the one that’s tweeting about me,” Israel Adesanya said of Jon Jones. “People ask me about him and I can’t just ignore the question, I’m going to respond. So yeah, if I get asked about him I’ll say whatever I have to say (but) he’s the one that’s Tweeting, I haven’t talked to him, I haven’t mentioned him. He came at me, so let him talk. He’s just a big talker.”

Dana White was initially against these two men fighting. However, he has since changed his tune. They’re two of the most polarizing figures on the roster, so fans would definitely get behind it. If there’s one thing that Dana White loves, it’s money and that could is one of the most lucrative possible fights right now.

“Those guys have been talking smack back and forth,” White said told Sky Sports on Saturday. “If Israel wins, and he really does want to fight Jon Jones, that’s a really big fight.“Israel Adesanya obviously has been huge. He’s a good-looking kid, he speaks well, and his fighting style is unbelievable.

However, it looks likely that Adesanya’s next fight will be a title defence against Paulo Costa. The Brazilian has made it very clear that he wants to cause ‘The Last Stylebender’ grievous bodily harm. Adesanya seems very willing to reciprocate. If that fight does materialise it will be the first time in UFC history that two unbeaten middleweights fight for the title. The next generation is here.
