Some interesting points coming out of Jon Jones’ camp today, but do they add up?

Last night brought yet another batch of headlines about Jon Jones that rocked the MMA world. Having only just recaptured the light-heavyweight throne from Daniel Cormier at UFC 214, ‘Bones’ was in trouble again.

During the UFC 214 drug tests, USADA (United States Anti Doping Agency) say they found anabolic steroids in Jones’ system. Obvious implications range from ‘Bones’ losing the 205-pound crown, to potentially never fighting again.

Even at this stage of the game, all this remains speculation as Jones’ team is appealing the test results…

Team Jones Responds

Former TUF (The Ultimate Fighter) contestant and team mate of Jones says ‘straight up, this is a set up,’ as per LowKickMMA.com:

“I was just at dinner sitting next to Jon Jones when he got the phone call about this failed drug test,” Lester wrote. “Supposedly the story is between weigh ins and fight night he took a oral steroid. Which makes zero sense since it wouldn’t do anything at all for Jon to do so. It takes weeks for steroids to build up in your system to be a performance enhancer. Jon was devastated to say the least.

“This is a set up, straight up, no athlete would test clean his entire fight camp, and then randomly take some cheap f—king oral steroid betweens weigh ins and fight night knowing he would be tested once he got done fighting. This is a straight set up. They are trying to ruin this kids life. It makes no sense and Jon wouldn’t do it. Let’s see what happens with all of this but I truly believe Jon is innocent & I hope that all of you will give him a fair chance before you send hateful judgements his way.”

Jon Jones finds himself in the middle of another catastrophe…

Statement From Jackson-Wink

From MMAFighting.com:

“We are all at a complete loss for words right now. Jon, his trainers, his nutritionists and his entire camp have worked tirelessly and meticulously the past 12 months to avoid this exact situation.”

“We are having the samples tested again to determine the validity or source of contamination. Jon is crushed by this news and we are doing whatever we can as a team, to support him.”

Sound Familiar?

This is eerily similar to the UFC 200 fight week where Jones popped for estrogen blockers. He was pulled from UFC 200 on days notice, and the dialogue is almost exactly the same.

This time ‘Bones’ just got done fighting, and this sh*t storm hits the UFC in the middle of Mayweather vs. McGregor fight week. How will the promotion and Jones handle this PR nightmare?

Given his past with USADA, Jones could be facing a career-ending four-year suspension off the back of this latest scandal. Needless to say, the 205-pound division would be chaos, again, if that happens.

  1. He was either set up (not likely) or like other drug abusers and cheaters the only other viable explanation in light of his team’s reaction is HE’S LYING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
