If you follow boxing for quite a while, you might know who Richard Schaefer is. He is the basically the guy that made Golden Boy Promotions, one of the biggest promotions during that time.
He was the guy behind the scenes that does all the work, he was basically the backbone of the promotion. Most of the guys that are aware are like Dana White and Floyd Mayweather even went on to say that Richard Schaefer is Golden Boy Promotions, not Oscar De La Hoya which speaks highly for Schaefer.
Prior to this, it was reported that Jones and Malki Kawa ended their ties and that moment Jones was looking for a new manager. It was an 11 year journey that ended, many were shocked with the news, but it would been good for Jones’s future fights.
A lot of fans wanted Ali Abdelaziz to be Jones’s manager as Ali is known to take care of his fighters and even set them up with big fights. Ali currently manages a lot of MMA fighters with big names like Khabib, Usman, Cejudo and a lot more champions.
Richard Schaefer may have been more known in the boxing community rather than in MMA, he still has the connections to set up Jones’s with big fights, especially the potential Ngannou vs Jones super fight that all fans want to see. It is definitely the fight to make right now, but due to negotiation issues, the UFC are planning to book Ngannou vs Lewis 2 instead.
Speaking of connections, Schaefer is the guy that even Dana White has tremendous respect. Schaefer is one of the fews guys that could make White and Jones come to an agreement. Let us hope that both parties come to an agreement before it is too late.
