Ronda Rousey Isn’t Just Going to Get Handed a Belt By the WWE… She’s going to Have to Work For One…
Former UFC Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey was back on the wrestling circuit last night in Illinois. She was taking part in WWE’s Money in the Bank event, for the Raw Women’s Championship. It took place in the Allstate Arena, in the Chicago suburb of Rosemont.
It’s very interesting to follow Rousey’s WWE career because she’s the first UFC superstar to cross codes and try to make a name on the other side. Normally it’s the other way around, with the likes of Brock Lesnar successful in making the transition, while CM Punk was definitely not.
Rousey was facing the Raw Women’s Champion Nia Jax in a one-on-one clash for the title. She looked excellent throughout the bout and was clearly in phenomenal condition. However, WWE storylines don’t care about your conditioning – as audiences found out when Rousey was unexpectedly smashed out by Alexa Bliss.

Strong Performance
It was a strong performance. Rousey looked great in there last night, which just goes to show that she’s gaining confidence. You would definitely know that professional wrestling is fake though because look at those punches she’s throwing in that video above. Rousey’s never been so fly before in her life. Edmond Tarverdyan will be trying to take the credit.
She also threw the much bigger Jax over her shoulders judo style. This resulted in the commentators getting very excited. Olympic Judo medallist throws performer over her shoulders. Not that crazy really is it? Then suddenly Jax lashed out with a boot and Rousey was p***ed.

Not Yet
Sorry WWE fans, ‘Rowdy’ isn’t going to be your champion just yet. There’s always a twist in the tale, and she fell victim to some brutal scriptwriting. As she had Jax, who literally was twice her size, in an armbar, something unexpected happened. Alexa Bliss snuck in with the money-in-the-bank briefcase and beat both Jax and Rousey with it. Such is WWE.
In terms of a performance, Rousey did not look out of place. She’s taken to WWE like a duck to water and took a fair battering herself by Jax. However, if you’re a UFC fan, you’ve probably read this entire article with disgust all over your face. Totally understandable. Is it overly cartoony? Yes. Is it an insult to the MMA Gods? Yes. Should grown men be watching this? Hmmm. I’ll leave that one there.

Busy Ronda
Rousey has a very busy time coming up. No doubt there will be some mad storyline of revenge happening between Bliss and ‘Rowdy’. WWE fans have definitely accepted her. Meanwhile, she has a couple of films coming up in the next year. Most significantly she’ll be in Mark Wahlberg’s Mile 22, which will be released on Netflix on August 3, 2018.
You can also bet that a number of UFC fighters are keeping a close eye on Rousey’s progress. Paige VanZant has made no secret of the fact that she has an interest in joining the entertainment industry. She’s definitely got star potential and mainstream appeal after her Dancing With The Stars experience, and modeling career. Conor McGregor is another assessing his options.
