Nick Diaz made waves this week when he spoke to Ariel Helwani. He hinted that he’s even considering a comeback. There’s a strong chance that he wants to avenge his brother’s defeat to Jorge Masvidal. Wouldn’t that be an insane fight to make? You can guarantee the UFC would be happy to make it.
Of course, Diaz hasn’t fought for so long that it’s difficult to get excited by a potential comeback. Until he’s actually standing in the cage opposite another fighter it’s tough to imagine him being back. That’s what Masvidal feels anyway. He is happy to fight the elder Diaz but doesn’t want to deal with his drama.
Masvidal has said if the money is right then he will definitely take on the former Strikeforce champion. We are definitely in favour of this fight. Bring back the BMF title.
Comeback?
Diaz looks like he could be about to make a comeback. Nick hasn’t fought since his no-contest against Anderson Silva back in 2015. Both men were suspended after that fight after failing drug tests. Diaz was initially banned for 5 years after testing positive for marijuana. However, it was reduced to 18 months. Ironically, it doesn’t make a difference because he hasn’t fought for nearly five years now.
The elder Diaz spoke out about his brother’s loss to Jorge Masvidal. He slammed the Cuban-American for his reaction to winning and called him out. In short, he’s even interested in fighting Masvidal at the Cowboy Stadium in Texas.
“I’ve never had nothing disrespectful to say but you don’t talk about baptizing my younger brother,” Nick said of Masvidal. “So you are already in a f**ked position if you fight with me.”

Masvidal is on top of the world right now. He’s one of the world’s most popular fighters after his stunning year. He pieced Diaz up before the doctor stopped the fight. However, he definitely seems enthusiastic about fighting Nick and becoming the first man to beat both Diaz brothers.
“Is he asking to fight?” Masvidal said. “I was confused or are we going for a walk some place? He’s asking for a fight? He’s asking for a fight or to go for a walk? Does he know who he’s asking for a fight?
“Cause I love to fight, especially when I get a little something on top of that.”
Moneymaker
Meanwhile, Masvidal doesn’t care who he fights next. ‘Gamebred’ just wants to make as much money as possible. A fight against ‘Canelo’ Alvarez is just as exciting as a clash with the welterweight champion. He’ll fight anybody as long as the money is right.
“We don’t know who’s next but everybody’s looking like cash symbols, cash money to us right now,” he said. “The next person is going to be the one that puts the most zeros in the bank account, who that is.
“A lot of people are saying my name now,” he continued. “They didn’t want to fight me before, like a year or two [ago], they didn’t want to fight me. Everybody wants to call me out now. So it’s funny to me because these same guys didn’t want to fight me two or three years ago.”
