Khabib Nurmagomedov was dominant in capturing the lightweight title at UFC 223. After a hectic week which saw ‘The Eagle’ booked against two last-minute replacements, Khabib continues to troll his rival and former champion Conor McGregor…
Leading up to UFC 223, the UFC lightweight division became more chaotic than ever. Pulling out of the main event against Khabib Nurmagomedov, Tony Ferguson threw the first spanner in the works.
Stepping in on less than one week’s notice was Max Holloway, but the madness was far from over at this point. Conor McGregor, kinda still champion at this point, went berserk with his revenge attack on Khabib after the Russian confronted Artem Lobov.
Injuring multiple fighters, McGregor’s actions saw three bouts scrapped from the event. The Irishman was arrested after what Dana White described as ‘the most disgusting thing’ he’d ever seen.
Still, the turmoil was not over, as the New York State Athletic Commission said Max Holloway was not fit to make weight. The rush was on for yet another UFC 223 main event replacement.
Nurmagomedov Dominated Iaquinta
The NYSAC made sure they royally coked up Iaquinta’s weigh-ins just to make the whole show that little bit more ropey. The title was only on the line for Nurmagomedov, with McGregor arrested by the NYPD and the whole MMA world turned on its head.
Finally, fight day came around, Khabib dominated and won the belt. After the deed was done, ‘The Eagle’ issued a number of statements to McGregor, who had been trying to attack him during the infamous bus incident.
Speaking to the press, courtesy of LowKickMMA, Khabib says McGregor needs to stop eating burger king and fight:
Beef
“We have to finish this beef, chicken or something like this. He have to stop eating Burger Kings. You want to fight? Come. I told you guys, I’m going to make him humble. I’m going to change his game.
“Now only one champion.
“No more fake champions, no more champion who never defend his title or something like this. Now UFC has champion, and this champion wants to defend his title. You want to fight? Come here. Inside the cage? Come. Outside the cage? Come. Let me know without camera, without like all this media.”

“I hope he’s going to fight – we have to fight. Like make World Tour. Everywhere, like Tokyo, Moscow, Dublin, Los Angeles, Rio. Big world tour, promote this fight and fight end of year, biggest arena in the world. Madison Square Garden. … I’m here. He want to become lightweight champion? He have to fight with me. No more all these fake champions.
“You guys remember when he put tweet, ‘Beg me.’ Please beg me.”
