Bah Gawd!

Taking place in the FireLake Arena, Shawnee, Oklahoma, LFA 9 rocked our world last night. Legacy Fighting Alliance is getting a name for themselves, and partnering up with AXS TV Fights means we get to see everything.

Headlining the event last night was a heavyweight collision between Myron Dennis and Danilo Marques, but that’s not where the real action was.

The Big Kabosh

The only knockout of the evening came from Sabino Mazo vs. Jamie Thorton, and it was a big one. Undefeated as a professional., Mazo was facing the more experienced fighter in Thorton.

Scoring the first knockout of her three-fight career, Mazo rocked Thorton with a harrowing head kick that echoed with a thud.

Watch as Mazo knocks her opponent flat in possibly the biggest KO of the year so far:

That was certainly a crushing knockout if we’ve ever seen one. Mazo’s record improves to 3-0 with the win, this being her first finish as a pro fighter.

Legacy Fighting Alliance 9 Results

Elsewhere on the card there were decisions, lots of decisions. In the main event Myron Dennis eeked out a sketchy decision over Danilo Marques that was, at best, questionable. Don’Tale Mayes won a one-sided judges decision over Demoreo Dennis.

Keep an eye on Legacy Fighting Alliance, as they continue to grow and put on exciting shows. Finishes like the flyweight contest between Sabina Mazo and Jamie Thorton are becoming more common place in LFA.

Sabina Mazo interview from MMAJunkie.com and MMANews.com:

“THEY CAN EXPECT A REALLY GOOD FIGHT BECAUSE I’M READY. THEY CAN EXPECT A LOT OF POWER, IT’S GONNA BE AWESOME. IT’S GONNA BE BETTER THAN MY OTHER FIGHTS BECAUSE I’VE BEEN PREPARED FOR THIS NOT ONLY THE FIGHT CAMP, BUT MY WHOLE LIFE. MY WHOLE LIFE THAT I’VE BEEN TRAINING, IT’S FOR EVERY FIGHT.”

“I REALLY WANT TO GET THIS TITLE. I DON’T HAVE ANY RUSH AT ALL, BUT I REALLY WANT TO GO FOR IT. AND I KNOW THAT WITH MY SKILLS AND ALL MY EXPERIENCE, I CAN TOTALLY GO FOR IT.”

“I REALLY WANT TO FINISH IT REALLY FAST. I’M NOT IN A RUSH LIKE I TOLD YOU, BUT I WANT TO GIVE IT ALL. AND WHEREVER THE FIGHT GOES, I’M PRETTY SURE I’M READY.”

“I love to compete,” Mazo told AXS TV Fights’ Ron Kruck. “So I competed in jiu-jitsu, muay Thai, boxing, and I tried to compete not only in Colombia, but also tried to go more to South America. And I did pretty well. I won different national jiu-jitsu championships – muay Thai, kickboxing also in Bolivia.

“I love to compete, I was born for that, so boxing, jiu-jitsu, everything and MMA. It’s everything.”
