Top Level UFC Fighter Fails Drug Test, Gets Ripped To Shreds By Rival

Yep, it’s been a few weeks since a high profile UFC fighter popped for steroids or some other performance enhancing drug. At least this one guy finds it hilarious…

The UFC ushered in a new era of drug testing when they partnered up with USADA (United States Anti Doping Agency) last year. In an attempt to clean up the sport of MMA, the world’s leading MMA promotion promised to clamp down on the cheaters in the sport.

There’s been a number of big drug busts in mixed martial arts over the recent years, leading to some very negative media surrounding the UFC. It was beginning to become a debacle, especially after the consensus ‘greatest of all time’ Anderson Silva tested positive for anabolic steroids.

Now, there’s a new fighter adding his name to the wall of shame, and it’s number one UFC contender Yoel Romero.

Who’d have thought?

After beating fellow top ranked middleweight Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza at UFC 194 this past December, it was decided that ‘Soldier of God’ Yoel Romero would get a title shot against the new champion Luke Rockhold.

Here is the initial response by the UFC, before the type of drug violation was revealed:

The UFC organization was notified today that the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) informed Yoel Romero of a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation stemming from an out-of-competition sample collection.

USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, will handle the results management and appropriate adjudication of this case involving Romero. Additional information will be provided at the appropriate time as the process moves forward.

Perhaps more crazy than the fact Romero got popped, is the reaction from his former opponent Tim Kennedy, which is simply wild!
