Leon Edwards already has plans for 2024, and it will start with the UFC 300. After that, the champ also wants to defend his title in Birmingham, England, in the summer of 2024. According to the fighter, he is now “in talks” with the promotion, assuring fans he’s pushing for the plans.

Edwards had a recent success at UFC 296 after defeating Covington via a unanimous decision (49-46, 49-46, 49-46). After this, the Briton is now looking to secure his next title defense. During his attendance at Villa Park in Birmingham last weekend, the MMA star was given a short halftime interview and revealed the details of his plans.

“I will defend my belt in April at UFC 300 in Vegas again, then hopefully in the summertime get a show back in Birmingham at Villa Park,” Edwards said. “I’m in talks with the UFC, so hopefully we can get it done.”

It is unknown who will be the opponent of the welterweight champ, but it can be recalled that Edwards and his coach, Dave Lovell, made it clear that fighting Belal Muhammad is not something they would like to entertain, saying Shavkat Rakhmonov is a better option. UFC CEO Dana White also seems uninterested in booking the fight between Edwards and Muhammad. Nonetheless, sports journalist Ariel Helwani recently claimed that “the opponent slated to face him would be Belal Muhammad,” albeit “Shavkat Rakhmonov definitely was in the mix, too.”
