Ali Abdelaziz’s Big News Has Been Leaked… Khabib Nurmagamedov is in Negotiations to Fight Georges St. Pierre…

Now, this would be absolutely massive. Is there a bigger fight in MMA right now? We’re talking about two of the most dominant fighters of their respective generations: Georges St. Pierre and Khabib Nurmagamedov. The two are believed to be in negotiations to fight for the lightweight title.

Nurmagamedov defeated Conor McGregor to extend his winning record to 27-0 and consolidate his status as lightweight champion. He’s been pushing for a boxing match with Floyd Mayweather, but that is believed to have been a deflection tactic to hide the fact that negotiations with GSP’s camp are on-going.

Team Khabib’s loudmouth manager Ali Abdelaziz teased that they had big news on the horizon. Now MMA Team Dagestan – who leaked the news that Khabib would fight Conor McGregor at UFC 229 – have confirmed that the UFC is officially trying to seal ‘The Eagle’ v Rush. This is totally legit folks.

Massive

There are no details at present, but speculation is rife that it would be for the lightweight title. It’s already known that St. Pierre has done a test-run to see if he can make it down in weight to 155lbs and take on the Russian champion. With that confirmed, the UFC is tentatively allowing this to run its course. There is no bigger fight in MMA right now.

Yesterday, Ali Abdelaziz – you know the guy who abandoned his kid and talks loudly all the time – tweeted:

“We will blow your mind big news coming @Team Khabib”.

Huge Stakes

Although from a financial perspective this makes massive sense, there are huge stakes involved for the UFC. Who will they want to win this? St. Pierre returned last year after a four-year hiatus to fight for the middleweight crown, which he successfully took from Michael Bisping.

However, he dropped the belt after suffering from ulcerative colitis and did not want to hold up the division. The only thing that would make him stick around at lightweight would be a potential fight with Conor McGregor – who looks likely to fight either Tony Ferguson or Nate Diaz next. It might be a ‘red panty’ night for El Cucuy instead of Khabib time, and a win for either man would basically irrevocably guarantee the next title shot.

Stardust

Hypothetically, this is the chance for Georges St. Pierre to become the first ever triple champion in the history of the UFC. He’s already the most successful and dominant welterweight champion of all time – sorry Tyron Woodley, you’ve still got quite a bit of catching up to do.

‘Rush’ is arguably the greatest UFC fighter ever. He’s broken so many records, cleared out his division, never failed a drug test and always remained respectful. He’s said that if he were to come back it would have to be for legacy-defining reasons. A fight against Khabib Nurmagamedov would absolutely be that. The question is, at the age of 37, with all the wars he’s been through, can he really do what 27 men have already failed to do?
