The Filipino Eight-Division boxing sensation, Manny Pacquiao is looking to return inside the ring as early as May but no official opponent has been announced. Although one name that has been standing out among many is Mikey Garcia.

The Mexican boxer also confirmed that they are near to finalizing a deal with Manny Pacquiao. Garcia said that the fight will likely be announced in the next few days and that they are also looking to fight in May but there is venue as of the moment.

Garcia is a big name and has beaten a lot of high level boxers like Robert Easter Jr, Jessie Vargas and even Adrien Broner. He has only one pro loss in his record and it was against Errol Spence Jr but in his defense he was moving up two divisions against a much bigger guy. It was a low-risk, high reward fight for Garcia.

With the recent news of Pacquiao being changed to champion in recess due to inactivity, there will likely be no belt on the line for the fight. Even though it may not be a title fight, fans will likely tune just to watch Pacquiao fight once more.

He has a country behind him, and he is facing his rivaled country, Mexico. Pacquiao has had a history against great Mexican boxers like Marquez, Morales, Barrera, De La Hoya and a lot more. Prior to Pacman, he was nicknamed the Mexicutioner but he does not like to be called this alias anymore.

“We’re leaning towards Mikey Garcia, but we’re also talking to Crawford,”

In a Philippine local interview, Manny Pacquiao told Dylan Castillejo of ABS-CBN.

In terms of Pacquiao’s legacy in boxing, he has nothing left to prove. He has proven that he is one of the greatest boxers to ever live, he even has a great argument for the best pound for pound boxer. Pacquio is also the only boxer to win belts in 8 divisions and no one comes close.

As for Mikey Garcia, he is still a big name and his past fights proves that he is a worthy opponent to face. His boxing record is highly underrated right now, he may not be in the pound for pound list but he is still one of the best in his natural weight division.
