Former UFC featherweight Champion, Max Holloway is out for his fight with Yair Rodriguez on 17 July. It was not revealed what specific injury but the UFC is looking to book on later date.

Holloway just came off an all-time great performance against Calvin Kattar. It broke a lot of records in just one fight mainly because of Holloway’s volume striking. Despite throwing a lot of strikes, Holloway doesn’t get tired even in the later rounds.

The UFC hasn’t announced but fighters like Giga Chikadze tweeted that they are ready to step in and save the fight card. Chikadze has been undefeated since signing in the UFC and is coming off an early knockout win against featherweight veteran, Cub Swanson.

As for Yair Rodriguez, he has not been in active for quite a while. His last fight was against Jeremy Stephens back in 2019. He was then scheduled to face Zabit Magomedsharipov but pulled out due to injury. It is tough as the featherweight division is showing to be a stagnant division especially with The Ultimate Fighter series. We might have to wait a bit more for the next title fight.
