If you told someone 3 years ago that a retired Floyd Mayweather would fight YouTuber Logan Paul in a boxing match, you would be called CRAZY. It is basically a YouTuber fighting arguably the greatest boxer of his generation.
Floyd Mayweather is actually the smaller guy but he has faced a lot of bigger guys in the past, not as big as Paul but more skilled than Paul. Mayweather may be retired, but one thing for sure is that Mayweather is always in shape, even without an upcoming fight. Despite his huge success, his team always says that Floyd trains like he is broke.
As for Logan Paul, he already has an experience stepping inside the ring when he fought KSI, another Youtuber. When they fought, the first one ended in a draw, and in the rematch, KSI won via decision.
Paul has said that all the pressure is on Floyd since people are expecting him to lose. If Paul loses, well he faced the greatest boxer and if he wins, it might be one of the biggest upsets in all of sports. Paul said that his size could pose a problem to Floyd, saying that weight classes exist for a reason.
The reason for Mayweather taking the fight is obviously the money, hence the nickname Floyd “Money” Mayweather. Floyd has been in the game for so long and has yet to taste a defeat. He is making more money as a retired boxer compared to the current boxing champions. That is how massive the fight is in terms of money.
Many fans are calling the fight a joke, calling it a disgrace to the sport. There are a lot of boxers that worked hard to be at the stage, yet a Youtuber just takes away and earns more in one fight than a pro boxer’s whole career. It might be unfair to them but Paul is simply a celebrity for the casuals.
Who could blame Paul or Mayweather for taking the fight? They are guaranteed a massive payday where Mayweather is expected to win and Paul is expected to lose but gets massive payday as well. It is a win-win situation for both fighters. Boxing is prizefighting at the end of the day.
A atrocious disgrace and does anybody put pride first anymore, is their any heart left in people.
