Conor McGregor has finally confirmed that he’ll be facing Michael Chandler on June 29 in Las Vegas. In line with this, the initial betting odds of two came out, giving McGregor a less favorable number compared to his opponent. While this is surprising for some, some fans believe this is expected as the Irish superstar has been in a longer break than Chandler.

McGregor had announced the details of their bout before 2024 started, saying the bout would be in 185 in UFC’s International Fight Week. The weight class is the first for both fighters, with some analysts believing that entering the division is not a good decision for the Irish for being “too small.” Yet, McGregor appeared confident about the choice, announcing the detail with maniacal laughter.

The figures showing his betting odds, nonetheless, are something that might take away that laugh from McGregor. In the latest numbers shared by DraftKings, “The Notorious” ended up as a -120 favorite, while Chandler came up as a +100 underdog.

Both are coming from their respective losses to Dustin Poirier, with Chandler losing in November 2022. Meanwhile, McGregor suffered two losses to “The Diamond” in the last of the two bouts in their trilogy fight. This marked the final battle of the Irish in July 2021, giving him a leg injury that he had to heal for years.

For some fans, this might be the reason why the initial numbers of the betting odds are more favorable for Chandler. By entering the cage after a serious injury and two losses almost three years ago, many think it would be a fight McGregor would have a hard time dominating.
