There are very few fighters on the planet who can compare to Mike Tyson. In a lot of ways he is truly one of a kind. ‘Iron Mike’ carved his name in combat sports history with a terrifying reign in the 80’s and 90’s.

Tyson became the youngest ever champion by defeating Trevor Berbick by knockout way back in 1986. The globally feared knockout artist was notorious for strking fear in to his opponents long before they fought.

Who Can Compare to Mike Tyson?

Now aged 50, Tyson has long retired from the sport of boxing. Fighting from 1985-2005, Tyson amassed a career record of 50 wins, just six losses and two no-contests. He finished 44 of his opponents by knockout.

Since his retirement in 2005, there really has been nobody like Mike Tyson in the boxing world, at least not at heavyweight. Due to corruption and big competition like mixed martial arts, boxing has seen a steady and considerable decline in popularity.

The Diaz Connection

Perhaps in terms of demeanour, Nate Diaz is the mixed martial arts equivalent of Mike Tyson. Diaz played the ultimate spoiler role by defeating Conor McGregor at UFC 196. The rematch at UFC 202 is one of the greatest fights ever.
