5. Urijah Faber

When Urijah Faber was the face of the WEC promotion as their featherweight champion it encouraged the UFC to expand and add lighter weight divisions.  Had Faber not been having really exciting fights with guys like Mike Brown we might not have the UFC featherweight, flyweight or bantamweight divisions.

Faber has been a pioneer of mixed martial arts to that degree.  It’s just that he’s never really been all that good.  His run as featherweight champion in the WEC was the highlight of his career, but once the talent pool in the weight class exploded Faber became outmatched by the elite at both featherweight and bantamweight.

Faber has a lot of fans though, so he has been put into high profile fights because of his name value.
