Nate Diaz is already laying the foundations of trash talk for his trilogy bout against Conor McGregor…

When the dust finally settled on Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor, some interesting questions were raised. Perhaps the most pertinent concerned McGregor’s UFC lightweight title, and whom he’d fight next.

With Tony Ferguson and Kevin Lee scheduled to collide for the interim belt, an obvious fight with the champion should be next. Unfortunately, things aren’t that simple in MMA right now, especially not where ‘The Notorious’ is involved.

Even UFC president Dana White hinted the winner of Lee vs. Ferguson at UFC 216 wouldn’t fight McGregor next. Immediately after the Mayweather fight, McGregor started talking about a trilogy fight with Nate Diaz.

Further complicating matters was Khabib Nurmagomedov claiming he wants the winner of Ferguson vs. Lee. With McGregor not even being out for a year, there are already TWO interim title fights being talked about.

A two-time opponent and likely McGregor’s next Nate Diaz has started off the next round of trash talking…

Nate Diaz Burns Conor McGregor

During their epic rivalry before UFC 196, the trash talk between McGregor & Diaz lasted only 12 days. Within that time, however, the two managed to whip up a media frenzy. If some fighters are just made for each other, some are also meant to argue, and that’s McGregor vs. Diaz in a nutshell.

Now looking to restore the flames, Diaz took a swipe at McGregor’s gas tank after MayMac. Considering people were making comparisons to Bruce Lee and Muhammad Ali before the fight, Diaz is seriously unimpressed:

Diaz responded to McGregor’s Instagram post above with the following statement:

He punched himself out the same way he lost in the Ufc there was no learning goin on.. #overpromotion bullshit get off the nuts this the shit I’m talking about
Bruce Lee would’ve never lost like that. #realninjashit

McGregor himself admitted he had gassed against Diaz in their first fight. Although he appeared to have been working far more on his cardio, boxing rounds are very different from MA rounds.

10 against Mayweather probably felt like twice that, and missing punches really does sap your energy.

Trilogy Time

Final thoughts on this matter are-Diaz need that trilogy fight. Whether or not the UFC will cough up the $20-30 million pay check he’s demanding remains to be seen. It’s unlikely we’ll see Nate ever fight again unless it’s against his Irish rival.

“At least $20 million, $30 million,” Diaz’s boxing coach Richard Perez told Submission Radio.

“Come on. UFC’s making a whole lot of money, a whole lot of money and they’re pocketing it. They’re giving more to McGregor, so it’s not fair because it takes two in that ring to draw a crowd — I mean, a good two fighters.”

“It’s just like Mayweather when he fought Berto. It was not even sold out at all. It was embarrassing. It’s because that guy couldn’t draw a crowd.

“See, that’s what I’m saying, it’s the fighters that draw the crowd, and Nathan and McGregor, third one would be outstanding. Everyone knows that. So he needs to get paid at least $30 million easy.”
