Despite Dana White’s denials, it is almost a certainty that a 3rd fight between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz will happen at some point. This of course, has led to endless speculation amongst MMA experts and non-experts alike as to what will happen to close out the trilogy.
Will Conor gas in the 2nd round again? Will Nate keep pushing the pace? Will more videos of Ido Portal and Conor McGregor playing “touch butt in the park” surface? There are many unanswered questions still.
Nate Diaz on a couple of occasions has claimed victory in both fights, despite losing the second bout via majority decision. On Chael Sonnen’s podcast recently, Nate stated that he “already beat him twice” in reference to Conor, and also claims that Conor’s camp knows Nate will win the 3rd fight, so he is expecting them to not be quick to make a 3rd bout.
“Him and his coach know what happened in the fight and they aren’t stupid, so I think they are going to do what they can to return to his division and get onto a new stage.” Nate was quoted as saying on the podcast.
Nate’s claim that he won the second fight is worth taking a look at. While some debate can be had regarding the outcome, most people looking at that fight from a judging perspective are going to award it to Conor. But there are two significant things that happened during the fight that would lead someone like Nate to claim victory, despite not actually winning the bout. Nate took to social media recently to elaborate on one of them.
