One guy certainly never ran the entire fight, and that guy is Nate Diaz
“He was scared to engage and I feel like they should have took points for that, on top of me winning anyways, which wouldn’t have let him win the fight,” said Diaz. “I think I won three rounds to two and I didn’t think that was even a question.”
If referee John McCarthy had penalized McGregor for running, then it is possible that Diaz could have gotten the victory or at least have salvaged a draw.
Despite the loss however, Diaz’ performance earns a career payday upwards of about $13-million (McGregor bagged upwards of $15-million) and also a third bout against McGregor to settle the score once and for all somewhere down the road.
