New allegations against Georges St. Pierre’s camp regarding his UFC 158 fight against Nick Diaz are surfacing; allegations that could lead to a potential rematch down the line. The source of the allegations is Nate Diaz’s boxing coach, Richard Perez, who was in Nate’s brother Nick’s camp for the bout.
The fight was more than 2 years in the making, and had actually been originally scheduled for UFC 137, Nick’s first fight after vacating the Strikeforce Welterweight Championship. The main event for that card was changed however, after Nick Diaz pulled what Conor did for UFC 200, and failed to show up to a media event. Diaz was replaced in the main event that night with Carlos Condit, and Diaz knocked out BJ Penn in the co-main event instead.
The fight between Georges St. Pierre and Nick Diaz went exactly like most of GSP’s fights at that stage of his career; he took him down and controlled the fight, doing little bits of damage here and there en route to earning a decision victory.Nick Diaz claimed to have retired after that fight (few took this seriously) but would later make claims that GSP was both on steroids and missed weight for their fight.
While appearing as a guest on Chael Sonnen’s podcast, Nick claimed that he was never drug tested for UFC 158 and neither was Georges, and that Georges missed weight but the Canadians conspired against him.
But now members of Nick Diaz’s camp are claiming that GSP’s camp drugged Diaz before the fight, causing Nick to be severely dehydrated going into the bout.
