Nick Diaz recently made comments referring to his having been drugged before UFC 158. While doing press for UFC 202, Nick’s old coach (now Nate’s boxing coach) Richard Perez fielded a question regarding Nick’s claim.

“Oh yeah, yeah, I remember that. Yeah I was there and it was Georges St. Pierre’s nurse or something, came down and he wanted to give Nick some kind of stuff. And I told Nick not to do it, but he gave it to him. So that’s what he’s talking about.

“I don’t know what it was. I’m not saying that it was a drug or anything, but I just know that he looked different (in the fight).”

“Of course because he was up all night urinating. I mean he wasn’t feeling good because he was going to the bathroom a lot. I mean, I don’t know what it did, but I know he was going to the bathroom a lot, so it probably dehydrated him and drained him.

“I don’t know, but I just know I was sitting there and the guy wanted to give him something. I don’t know what it was for. I told him no, but he said it wouldn’t even hurt him. It was strange.”

Oddly enough this was not the only strange story surrounding UFC 158 to come out recently. On Joe Rogan’s “Fight Companion Podcast” (his podcast where he, Brendan Schaub, Bryan Callen and Eddie Bravo watch and comment on UFC shows) for this Saturday’s UFC Fight Night, Rogan relayed a story that GSP had been up the entire previous night before the fight with symptoms similar to food poisoning.

“That dude needs to come back and give me another fight as far as I’m concerned. As long as I can fight. They did not test him for steroids for that fight. They did not test us.” Nick was quoted as saying.

While Joe mentioned that GSP’s physical state may have arisen from drinking watermelon juice that had been left out for too long, the show’s panel speculated on the possibility that both fighters had been drugged heading into the fight.

John Danaher, GSP’s former BJJ coach recently made statements that validate Rogan’s comments that GSP was very sick the night before the fight.

UFC 158 was the highest grossing PPV of GSP’s career, and up until UFC 196 was the highest grossing PPV featuring a welterweight main event.  A rematch between the two could mean big money for both fighters and the UFC.
