4. Chris Weidman vs. Anderson Silva UFC 162
Anderson Silva was only doing the same thing he had done in numerous fights previously. Silva has a habit of taunting his opponents in an attempt to get them to be more aggressive. It’s a strategy he used against Patrick Cote, Forrest Griffin, and any other fighter Silva wanted to charge at him. This was the time it finally came back to haunt him.
Weidman just missed connecting on a few strikes in the 2nd round so Silva decided to pretend like the shots had given him dramatically wobbly legs. During this performance Chris Weidman decided to punch him on the chin and end his 10-fight title defence streak.
Even though he won (and then defended) the belt against Silva in controversial fashion, Weidman also defended the title successfully against Lyoto Machida and Vitor Belfort. After 3 successful title defences, Weidman dropped the belt to Luke Rockhold at UFC 194.
