UFC on Fox 22 will be headlined by “12 Gauge” Paige VanZant taking on “the Karate Hottie” Michelle Waterson. The event will be held in Sacramento, which is home base for her and her training partners at Team Alpha Male.

The co-main event that night (Dec. 17th 2016) will be Sage Northcutt vs. Mickey Gall, as the company attempts to market many of their younger fighters on the same show.

PVZ Coming Off a Big Win

When Paige takes on Waterson in December, it will be her 6th UFC fight in just over 2 years. In that stretch she’s only had the one loss, which was to “Thug” Rose Namajunas in December.

VanZant bounced back from the loss to Namajunas with a second round knockout of Bec Rawlings in August. With a win VanZant would put herself in a position to possibly receive a shot at a top 5 ranked contender in her next bout.

Michelle Waterson

As for Waterson, she has been dealing with injuries and hasn’t fought in over a year. By the time she gets in the cage with VanZant it will have been 17 months in-between fights for the #12 ranked Waterson.

She won her UFC debut in July of last year, Waterson’s first fight back since losing her Invicta title her previous bout.

VanZant was excited to get the news that she would be headlining a show in her hometown, and she took to social media to express it.
