UFC 200 took a hit of massive proportions last night (Wednesday July 6, 2016). Interim light-heavyweight champion and former undisputed kingpin Jon Jones has been removed from the event on just three days notice after failing a drug test.

‘Bones’ was meant to be facing Daniel Cormier in the July 9 main event. After a bitter rivalry before UFC 182, Jones emerged victorious, but the story had only just begun at that stage. The beef between ‘DC’ and ‘Bones’ was far from over following their January 2015 match.

Jones retained the title that night with a decision win over Cormier. The former Strikeforce Grand Prix winner was shattered following the defeat against ‘Bones,’ but vowed revenge all the same.

When the time came for the two to meet again at UFC 197, Cormier was forced off the April card with an injury. Jones returned from his suspension and removal of his title for the New Mexico hit-and-run to instead face Ovince St-Preux.

Jones defeated OSP by decision on April 23, but it was far from his best UFC performance. Now we learn that the pound-for-pound calibre athlete has failed a drug test, but further information on exactly why he got popped by USADA (United States Anti Doping Agency) is yet to be released.

But the controversial photos and report on page 2 might well blow this case wide open…
