UFC light-heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier has proved himself in and outside the octagon. His latest prediction has caused a stir this week…
Since Daniel Cormier joined the UFC back in 2013, he’s brought his own brand of wholesome image like few others. Strange when you consider he was half of perhaps the most bitter MMA feud of all time.
In Jon Jones, Cormier found his perfect enemy. Sadly, the beef between them was never truly settled, even though they fought twice in the last three years. Jones’ recent KO win over ‘DC’ was overturned to a no-contest after ‘Bones’ flunked another drug test.
Providing plenty of drama at 205 pounds, the bad blood between Cormier and Jones is now likely a thing of the past. Another division with plenty going on right now is the ever-stacked 155-pound category.
With McGregor’s shadow looming, Tony Ferguson and Kevin Lee competed at UFC 216 for the interim title.
Cormier Makes His Prediction
As he sits out a few months before likely facing Volkan Oedzemir, Cormier again relishes his role in the pay-per-view commentary booth. As an analyst, ‘DC’ has the unique insight that only fighters possess.
During an interview with Talk and Talker, H/T Bloody Elbow, the 205-pound boss makes a hefty prediction for McGregor vs. Ferguson:
“I think he’s really good. I think his cardio and pace are fantastic. I believe he makes some mistakes that would really cost him against Conor,. Oh my goodness, do you see how high he’s holding his chin up when he’s throwing punches. You do that against McGregor, you’re getting sniped. You’re getting sniped!”

“When Conor hits you with a clean shot, it doesn’t affect people like most people’s big shots affect people. It sends you f—ng skating on ice,” he said. “It turns you into a baby deer, when they can’t stand up and they’re f—ng shaking and shit.
“You just can’t let him hit you like that, but I think because of the way Tony fights, he kinda hangs his chin up there. That’ll make it so dangerous for him because McGregor is so accurate, so fast.”
Options at Heavyweight For Cormier
(transcription via MMAFighting.com)
“The UFC values me and honestly, they’ve already reached out with some ideas about me fighting, and I was like, ‘Well, I need time,’ but there are options at heavyweight and options at 205. Obviously the Jimi Manuwa fight is a fight that could happen. Volkan Oezdemir has done fantastic for himself, a guy that’s a cool guy, but if the easiest path back to fighting the fights that I want is to go through somebody like that, then I’ll do it. So it’s a matter of just what I decide to do.
“At this point, I’ve kinda gotten to a point in my career where the UFC, they really are very open to a lot of my suggestions. This last two and a half years since I fought Jones the first time through now, I’ve headlined cards, there were cards I was supposed to headline or had marquee fights on, I’ve sold millions and millions of pay-per-views, and with that comes some respect within the organization.”
DC needs to fight Gustaffson.
