Conor McGregor Has Posted a Picture With Friend and Teammate Cian Cowley, With The Pair Due in Court This Week

There doesn’t seem to be much remorse on McGregor’s mind right now. The former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion is due back in court this week in New York, but if he’s worried he showed no signs of it with his latest Instagram post.

He attended BRAVE CF 13 in Belfast, Northern Ireland on Saturday night, where his teammate Cian Cowley was fighting on the card. If you remember, Cowley was the other Irishman arrested for his part in the chaotic events of that night in Brooklyn. He spent a cozy night with McGregor in a prison cell.

With his day in court looming, you’d expect McGregor to be staying very quiet. Well, no you wouldn’t because it’s Conor McGregor and he does what he wants. He tweeted a picture of himself – looking worse for wear – and Cowley celebrating after the younger man’s first professional win. Complete with a cheeky caption.

First Win

It was a first professional win for Cowley, who was delighted to get the finish after his debut met with debut back at BAMMA 24. McGregor was in attendance Saturday night and was obviously very happy to see his friend win. He posted the above picture with the caption:

“Congrats @CianCowley from the cells to the stadiums. Not a scratch. They done nothing. Jet leaves Tuesday my brother have a good one #Animal.”

Of course, McGregor flew in a posse of about 20 guys from Ireland to rampage through Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. Two fighters were injured, with three fights having to be pulled from the card. ‘The Notorious’ is expected to be hit with multiple lawsuits for damages, although details of those haven’t been disclosed yet.

Khabib Time

The main reason everyone wants all this rubbish over and done with is so that McGregor can fight Khabib Nurmagamedov. Everybody wants this. It sells itself, what with all that crazy bus attack footage lying on the internet. The UFC is also pretending that McGregor was meant to fight in Rio De Janeiro, so that’s his fake punishment. Dana White said:

“McGregor is next for Khabib Nurmagamedov.”

That was during the UFC 225 post-fight press conference. Assuming the Irishman gets off – being the Forbes 4th richest athlete will help – then all obstacles will be cleared and this could be signed off pretty quickly. Heck, there’s a reason Khabib hasn’t signed anything yet. If you want a bet, I’d say Las Vegas, October 6, UFC 229. It’s booked with no main event.

Wait and See

Don’t worry folks, the waiting game is almost over. McGregor hasn’t fought in a cage since November 2016. Fingers crossed he’ll be back before the two-year anniversary of his title win over Eddie Alvarez. He’s a fighter first and foremost and will want to get back in the cage.

Meanwhile, another McGregor teammate, Artem Lobov, who was pulled from the UFC 223 card for his role in the night’s events, is expected to fight Kyle Bochniak in Moscow on September 15. It just goes to show, being the bad guy works out.
