Warning: Graphic Images… UFC Fighter Paul Felder Was Left Looking Worse For Wear After Fighting Mike Perry With a Broken Arm…

UFC 226 went down a storm last night in Las Vegas as Daniel Cormier took down the most successful heavyweight ever in Stipe Miocic, to become the new and double champion. While the co-main event between Derrick Lewis and Francis Ngannou was arguably the most disappointing fight of all time, there were a few absolute gems down the card.

None more so than Paul Felder’s fight against ‘Platinum’ Mike Perry. ‘The Irish Dragon’ came in as a last-minute replacement for Yancy Medeiros, to make the step up to welterweight for the first time, after a frustrating period on the sidelines

It was an absolute bloody war. Although Felder lost the fight, he definitely didn’t lose any goodwill from the UFC nor the fans. After fighting through a broken arm he fell the wrong side of a split decision, but it was still incredible heart from the Philidelphia hero.

Brawl

It was an absolute brawl. Things got messy from the beginning when the two fighters accidentally butted heads, opening up cuts on their foreheads. Fan-favorite Perry was noticeably more measured than usual in his approach, as used more selective striking instead of just throwing bombs and getting knocked out like his last two fights.

Things got worse for Felder. It looked like he broke a bone in his arm after throwing a spinning back elbow and catching Perry with his forearm. He wasn’t able to use his arm properly for the remainder of the fight. 2 full rounds with one arm against Mike Perry… what a boss.

The Win

Perry opened up a massive cut above Felder’s eyebrow that gushed blood all over the ‘Irish Dragon,’ impairing his vision and spurring ‘Platinum’ on. Both men continued to plug away as the fight went on, with Felder throwing strikes with his broken arm. What a tough dude.

Ultimately, Perry correctly won the decision – the first time he’s been taken the distance. Credit to Felder who just toughed it out. Perry has only been training with Jackson-Wink in Alburqueque for 4 months. He could be scary in a year. After the fight Felder was brought to the hospital and posted the above picture on Instagram, with the caption:

“Still waiting for stickers [stitches]… and um thanks for cleaning me up. This hospital sucks.”

Great Card

Apart from the two elephants in the room during the co-main event, it was otherwise an excellent event. Dan ‘The Hangman’ Hooker put on a sensational display against Gilbert Burns. The New Zealander struck the Brazilian down like a sniper.

Did it get a bit WWE during the end? Yes… but money is money and we’re all talking about it now. Credit to Daniel Cormier, the new heavyweight champion of the world.
