The Lightweight Division is One of the Most Stacked in the UFC Today… It’s Always Been Strong… With Ten Official Champions in the Division’s History, Just Who is the Greatest of All-Time?
There have been so many iconic fighters in the UFC lightweight division. Just think of the ones who have never won a title: Kenny Florian, Donald Cerrone, Nate Diaz, Tony Ferguson… the list goes on and on. It’s traditionally one of the strongest on the roster and for good reason.
Lightweight fighters are dynamic enough to show amazing technique and speed, but big enough that knockouts are common too. A good lightweight fight is one of the best to watch in all of MMA. So let’s check out all ten of the UFC’s lightweight champions and rank their title reigns from best to worst.
We’re only counting undisputed champs here, so the likes of Ferguson and Dustin Poirier don’t qualify for this list. Also, every single one of these guys is a mean dude. So don’t think we’re hating.
10. Sean Sherk
When you’re a drugs cheat you’re pretty much guaranteed to end up last on a list like this and that’s the position that Sean Sherk finds himself in. Now some of you are going to be furious at this and say Sherk is a legend and pioneer of the sport. But we say again: drugs cheat.
‘The Muscle Shark’ did have one of the longest unbeaten streaks in the game, going 31 fights without defeat. Sherk also only lost four times in his career – all to former champions. But if you get stripped of a title for taking steroids, then you can’t really expect to be much higher up this list.
