‘Gamebred’ Has The Rock on His Side… Dwayne Johnson is Set to Put the BMF Belt Around Jorge Masvidal’s Waist… If He Can Beat Nate Diaz…
It’s the belt we didn’t know we wanted. The Bad Motherf**ker belt is set to be awarded to the winner of Jorge Masvidal v Nate Diaz, which will go down at UFC 244 in Madison Square Garden, on November 2. Yes, it is actually going to be a legitimate title, created especially for this event.
After negotiations between the UFC, Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington broke down, they turned to Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal to save the day. As they want title fights to headline Pay-Per-Views, they’ve come up with the BMF belt – a one-off ceremonial title for the winner of this exciting match-up.
Masvidal is convinced that he’ll be the one walking away with the strap around his waist. He’s even got ‘The Rock’ on his side, ready to put the belt on him when the fight ends. Over to you Nate Diaz.
Doing all I can to make this fight. If I can and you win, I’ll put the belt around your waist at MSG – consider it done. Already shaping up to be one of the biggest and most electrifying fights in @ufc history. Can’t wait. @GamebredFighter @NateDiaz209 #respect #BMF #UFC244 ⚡️ https://t.co/nVTIeBtkgv

Florida-native Masvidal has had the most exciting year of his career so far. The Cuban-American is coming off of the back of two scorching knockouts over Darren Till and Ben Askren respectively. He’s earned a lot of love from fans because he’s so direct and blunt. He is willing to back the talk up with fists – as Leon Edwards found out backstage in London.
Now he’s even got Dwayne Johnson on his side. The movie superstar and WWE legend promised to put the belt around his friend’s waist if he can be there on the night. He said:
“Doing all I can to make this fight. If I can and you win, I’ll put the belt around your waist at MSG – consider it done. Already shaping up to be one of the biggest and most electrifying fights in @ufc history. Can’t wait. @GamebredFighter @NateDiaz209 #respect #BMF #UFC244″
Of course, he has to actually get past Nate Diaz first before etching his name into UFC folklore. Ceremonial titles occur occasionally in boxing – think the ‘Money Belt’ commissioned by the WBO for Mayweather v McGregor – but one-off showpieces like this are extremely rare in high-level MMA.
Diaz will be as determined to get his hands on this pretty awesome title as well. The Stockton native is as wild a fighter as they come. This is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated fights of the year.
Dana White reaffirmed that the two men would be fighting for a belt and that it would not be defended. He said:
“No. It’s a one-and-done. Whoever wins, wins the belt and claims the title. ‘BMF.’ This fight is one of those fights that sort of took on a life of its own. Nate said in his interview this is a fight to see who’s the baddest motherf**cker in the game. He’s like, ‘That’s what this championship is.’ So alright, I’m in.”
It’s difficult to argue with that. Is it November yet?
