Now with ONE Championship, Eddie Alvarez is a true fighter’s fighter. The former Bellator champion arrived in the UFC and straight away went surging after the title. He may have lost to Donald Cerrone on his debut but rebounded to beat Gilbert Melendez and Anthony Pettis to earn the title shot.

Then he’d beat Rafael Dos Anjos by 1st round TKO. If this was a best-ever MMA lightweights list, Alvarez would be much higher up. But based on his UFC record, we’re ranking him as the 9th best champ. Dos Anjos was drained from the weight cut, and Conor McGregor took him apart in his only title defence.
