Randy Brown sent a personal callout to Michael Chiesa via DM, but the latter didn’t respond. Instead, the No. 14-ranked fighter asked Coby Covington to face him. Brown, nonetheless, thinks a bout against him “makes the most sense,” noting that Chiesa is on a current three-fight losing skid.

“Rudeboy” revealed sending the DM recently and reiterated his intention to fight Chiesa through a video on social media. After winning against Wellington Turman in June via unanimous decision, the fighter hopes to get a ranked opponent next time. According to Brown, he and Chiesa considered the bout before, but it was never pushed for some reasons. Now, Brown thinks this is the perfect time to do it.

“What’s up, Mike. I hope all is well,” Brown said. “My fight fell through last weekend as I got sick. I know we spoke about fighting a few times briefly, but it didn’t make sense for you at those times. I got a ton of respect for you and I’d still love an opportunity to scrap with you. I think it makes a lot more sense now. What do you say?”

Unfortunately, Chiesa is mum about the challenge and wants to fight Covington instead. “Maverick” is on a three-fight skid after losing to Vicente Luque, Sean Brady, and Kevin Holland.

From this move, the 36-year-old seems to be trying to redeem himself by fighting an opponent in the higher ranks. However, for Brown, a challenge from a recent winner like him to a fighter in the position of Chiesa is more ideal. Although Brown is open to facing other ranked UFC talents in his division, the fighter believes Chiesa is the appropriate option now.

“Everybody wants to fight up, and I understand it, but everybody wants to fight up,” Brown explained. “I completely get that, but bro, you’re on a three-fight skid. That’s the only reason I want to fight you is because you’re in the rankings.”
