The WWE has been attempting to bring their women’s divisions up to the same level of prominence in their universe that their are in UFCs. Just as was the case in the UFC however, a true cross-over star is needed to accomplish that.
Ronda Rousey to WWE?
The WWE’s “Hell in a Cell” PPV event earlier this month was headlined by two women, the first time that has occurred in WWE history. Charlotte Flair, the daughter of wrestling legend Ric Flair, defeated Sasha Banks (Snoop Dogg’s cousin oddly enough) inside of a “Hell in a Cell” to win the WWE Women’s Championship.
Reporters caught up with Stephanie McMahon recently to speak with her about the potential of signing Ronda Rousey to a WWE contract.
For Rousey to do for women’s pro-wrestling what she did for MMA, she would have to learn how to be a wrestler. Many ex-fighters have been successful in that transition however, including MMA legends Ken Shamrock, Kazushi Sakuraba and Dan Severn as well as Josh Barnett.
Rousey faces Amanda Nunes at UFC 207 on December 30th 2016.
