Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson is Facing Contempt of Court Charges After Missing a Date With the Judge…
Before Francis Ngannou there was Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson. The former UFC welterweight, middleweight and light-heavyweight was one of the hardest-hitting fighters on the entire roster. He’s been retired for a couple of years now but was heavily linked to a heavyweight return later this year.
In short, that might not happen now. The two-time title contender is in trouble with the law after failing to appear for a court date. Palm County, Florida have issued a warrant for the former fighter’s arrest. We would not want to be the police officers who have to knock on his door. Johnson is massive right now.
This isn’t the first time that he’s had legal issues. Johnson has had domestic violence charges brandished against him at multiple points. It really tarnishes the image of a popular fighter. This isn’t what you want from someone like him.

No Show
Johnson failed to appear for an appointment in relation to a charge of misdemeanour battery that he received earlier this year. During an argument, he allegedly lifted up his girlfriend before dropping her in another room. Apparently, you just can’t do that nowadays.
The former UFC fighter had accepted a plea deal relating to that charge and had also completed an anger-management course. During this time he’s been working with Bare-Knuckle Fighting Championship. Maybe all that testosterone and blood got him riled up. Anyway, it’s not a good look for the former light-heavyweight contender.

Charged
According to the sheriff’s report, the actual incident took place in Boca Raton, Florida, on May 6th. To sum up, police responded to a 911 call from Johnson’s girlfriend. The officers arrested him on the spot. Later, he admitted to lifting her up against her will. This breaks Florida’s battery laws.
Had he hit her, we’d be putting her head together like Humpty-Dumpty. That’s not making light of the incident, it’s just a fact. Johnson was handed three years probation for knocking out a woman’s teeth in 2014. The former fighter definitely has anger issues. But you wouldn’t want to be on the other end of them.

Bulked Up
Since retiring Johnson has been bulking up. He’s been spending his days focusing on bodybuilding and looks absolutely massive. However, he is seriously considering a UFC return. The problem is that the promotion won’t want him if he keeps attacking women. They definitely don’t have a history of signing woman-beaters. Back in January, Johnson told Luke Thomas:
“If I’m gonna do it I wanna do it at heavyweight. Everybody can eat, be fat, and happy and go out there and slug it out and see what happens.”
If he’s fat then we’re all doomed. Look at the size of him. In short, he’s an absolute beast. It’s a shame that he lost the will to fight because on his day he was one of the most exciting fighters on the roster. His knockout power is quite simply ferocious.
