1. Brock Lesnar vs. Shane Carwin UFC 116
You could make the argument that had it been any other fighter this fight would have been stopped in the first round. The fighter who got dropped in this bout however, just so happened to be the biggest PPV draw in company history at the time (Conor has since surpassed him).
Coming into this fight Shane Carwin was 12W-0L, with all of his fights ending in the 1st round. You could argue that this fight didn’t go any differently than any of his first 12 did, only this time referee Josh Rosenthal controversially allowed the fight go to a second round. Carwin pounded on Lesnar in the first and had him turtled up against the cage early, a position he would maintain for the vast majority of the round.
Lesnar survived, but many felt the fight should have been stopped.
In the second round Carwin was gassed; he had emptied the tank trying to finish Brock in the first. Lesnar was able to take Carwin down and choke him out with ease, earning a bizarre title defence in the process and arguably the biggest comeback victory in history.
