2. Ken Shamrock vs. Dan Severn – UFC 9
This fight almost didn’t happen, and many wish it hadn’t. Up until Scott Coker started booking senior citizens in bouts, this was widely considered the worst MMA fight of all time. To some it appeared as though it had actually killed the sport. As this was the last bout the UFC had on PPV for many years.
This was during the period that Senator John McCain was trying to get the sport thrown off PPV. The UFC had been in court that day trying to get the event sanctioned, but only managed to do so under modified rules. No closed fists were to be used. Nobody on the card listened however, except for these two. They danced around each other for the entirety of the fight, and then Ken signed with WWF.
